Artist Statement

A true storyteller, Kyrä Artworks & Oddities is an artist/maker using various mediums such as acrylics, fibre and reclaimed trinkets to create works that perform inventive concepts. She creates habitable scenes of fantasy she calls "Floating Islands" or "Topia"and makes wearable jewelry that is inspired by the various environments she envisions. A graduate from OCAD University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Kyrä's works are described as ones which challenge the realms of the real and the fiction and create an environment where the two as one can translate into a reinvention of perception. She strives to create an environment to become engulfed and lost within, one that viewers can also delve into. Currently she is exhibiting in local Toronto art fairs and group shows, in addition to selling work in person and online here
